Smashbox Studio Skin*

So when I started trying this Smashbox foundation, which promises to keep me shine free and flawless for up to 15 hours, the bottle also says that its non transferable which really intrigued me, I thought I’d really put it through the mill. I wore it on nightshift to a super warm and busy ward. On nightshift I do tend to rub my face a lot because I'm so tired.

Anyway, how did it do after its first nightshift? It still looked pretty good to be honest! A bit dry over my nose, but hadn’t worn off or rubbed off.

What I like about this foundation is that, it comes in 12 shades right from peely wally to darker skin tones. I’ve been trying the palest shade and it is actually pale enough for me.

So it passes, at £29.50 its not a cheapy but compared to some of its counterparts (Illamasque Skin Base I’m looking at you) The bottle is actually useful to get the product out of, with a pump ect and therefore your probably going to get to use more of the product near the end.

Its a winner in my book, I think the first Smashbox product I’ve tried and I will be rebuying!

I’ll hopefully get a FOTD post of me wearing this up tomorrow!

Specs!

MAC Ahoy there and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip protector on lips

You might have seen my new specs in my Sunday Photos the other day, but I thought I’d give them a wee twirl on the old blog. They are from Lensway and were a total bargain. They are almost indentical to Mike’s, so we look like twins. Ideal. I felt a bit daft in them when I started wearing them, they are pretty hipstery, but I really like them, and they REALLY help. I must have needed my glasses changed for a while. Here, you all need to go get your eyes checked. Look after those peepers!

I have so many things I’ve been reviewing and trying to show you, I need to get my finger out and actually post about them!

BM beauty make up brushes

So I’ve been trying these brushes for a couple of weeks, the lovely girls at BM beauty who donated to the #IWD raffle sent me them to try. I am big lover of MAC brushes and my cheaper alternative is Sephora. So these had a lot to live up to.

I really really like 121 for all over bronzer and powder to my face. These brushes are meant to be used with mineral make up, but I’m a liquid foundation girl all the way. Retailing at £14 it isn’t a cheaper alternative but its such a good quality and heavy duty brush.

I’ve been using the 123 for my eye make up, its blends easily and isn’t too stiff. It retails at £8 which I don’t think is bad at all for a good quality brush.

Lastly the 021 is a concealer brush by trade. However, myself and concealer brushes don’t really get on. I am a bit slap dash in the mornings and it just doesn't work for me! However after umming and ahhing on what else I could use this for, I tried it for applying eye shadow all over my lids and it works a treat!

The main thing to remember about BM beauty is everything is cruelty and animal free, which although I don’t practice it enough, is really important. There's no need to have horse hair make up brushes when you can have synthetic brushes that are just as good. You can have a look at all the BM beauty range HERE!

I have been a rubbish blogger this week haven't I? I am going to bring out the old first week of placement, nae brainspace card. The placement I'm on is Monday- Friday, which is so strange for me, I usually work 13 hour days but only do 3 a week, and then work at my job one 13 hour shift at the weekend, so I’ve not really had a day off that isn’t a sleep day. Today I managed to take advantage of the weather and had such a lovely outdoors day, so nice to breath in some fresh air!  Although its almost midnight, I'm going to bang out a few posts that I’ve half written and schedule them for this week so that when my brain turns to fluff again, I'm still posting!

I hope you are all getting good weather too, and have had a lovely weekend!

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Lip Colour in Love Child*

Right, I’m going to put it out there from the start I didn’t think I’d like this product, if you’ve read the blog for a while you’ll know I’m a ho for MAC products when it comes to lips. I rarely stray from MAC lipsticks and if I do, it has to be for a very good reason.

I received this in a goody bag, as soon as I saw the colour I was falling. Its the perfect everyday colour for me. It reminds me of MAC’s speedial, which is also one of my favourites.

Its a really creamy and hydrating product, unlike a lot of lipsticks. Alongside this the staying power is pretty good too.  I think I want to try this in F Bomb which is a super deep red colour and looks positively amazing!

GOSH x-ceptional foundation (Review); Illamasque Skin Base; Chanel soleil de tan; inglot eyeshaows on eyes + brows(Review), rimmel eyeliner; loreil mascara; Urban Decay Super Saturated in Love Child*; Bobbi Brown Gloss in Bare Super Sparkle; Vivo Baked Bronze (Review)

Finally! A face of the day with all the products I’ve been going on about and reviewing and loving on the blog. There's a review on this Urban Decay lip stick coming up this week – fair to say in advance, I love it!

Also you might have seen my post yesterday and saw my new fringe, anyway, it was a rash post nightshift 2 hours sleep decision, but I love it. I popped into Charlie Millar in Ocean Terminal to see if they could fit me in then and there for a fringe trim. The lovely Miriam did it and although she only cut my fringe, its complete transformed my hair! And when I went to pay she wouldn’t let me, what a doll!

Hoping that now its sunny and brighter I can start doing face of the days again, I don’t like using Photoshop or anything to edit them, so I try to wait until days when the room is light enough for them to look good.

Also, my skin is looking and feeling amazing. I’ve been using Bioderma (Review here) for 3 weeks now alongside my usual Sk:n products  ( Review here ) and I can’t believe the difference in it. I'm really pleased, and feel like  bit of a grown up with acne free skin!

New baby cakes, ice cream with my boyo, kitten features, new fringe, Baby Max, Sunny morning post nightshift

Quite a short photo post this week, I think I’ve had 1 night off, but I’d spent the day in uni. I start a new placement tomorrow, which is good and bad. Good because I’ll be awake in daylight hours, bad because frankly I cannot be assed!

Welcome to baby Max, my gorgeous new baby cousin!

Dress: Aldara from Miss Guided

Leather Jacket: Matalan

Cardigan: Primark

Brouges: Bronx Herald*

Brooch: Etsy

Red Shoes: Irregular Choice*

I LOVE the colour of this dress from Miss Guided, its proper parma violet colour. I sold my red one of the dress and bought this instead my red one was too big for me so its nice to be able to sell it and swap it round.

These are pretty much the only outfits I wear at the moment, life it revolving around this dress as its so easy to throw on and goes with almost everything!

What do you think?

I'm sorry but the blog is probably about to turn into a “try every hair care product that claims it might make my hair grow faster” type blog. Basically, I am one of those people who are duped into buying products because they feel that ashamed that they ever cut of their hair in the first place!

First up is the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, I love this product, I first saw it on Lily’s blog and bought it almost instantly, now its not cheap, but I can honestly say I’ve noticed such a difference in my hair since using it, its not necessarily grown, but it feels so much stronger and healthier. Result I’d say.

I’ll definitely be rebuying this product, its on the coming soon area in buyapowa so I think I’ll wait and hit it up on that!

Have you got any must have tips for me growing my hair? Do you feel my pain? Michael has started taking the piss a bit and telling me how long my hair looks every time I walk in a room, because I ask him so often whether my hair looks like its grown…

When I was invited* to have lunch at The Bonham and to visit The Chamomile Sanctuary Spa in Edinburgh as part of the Champaign pamper package, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed.

about_pic2 (2)

The Chamomile Sanctuary is tucked away in the heart of the west end, in an unassuming building, it would be so easy to just walk straight by. It was myself and my wee bestest Gale that went along, I treated her since she’s 5 months pregnant and its always super fun to do special things! Because she was pregnant she opted to get the manicure whilst I got an amazing massage. I need to tell you about this massage. I have a bad back. I have a nurses back at 22 and usually find it really sore to lie on my back Fiona (Im sure that was her name, I forgot to write it down) has honestly changed me! I can lie on my back and I’m no where near as creaky and ouchy.

Gale had her nails done in the area above and look how snazzy they were, and her hands were really really soft!IMAG0358

After our treatments, as part of the package we were whisked round to the The Bonham another hidden gem where we were treated to a 3 course meal. This boutique hotel is as every bit gorgeous inside, it looks over the dean village and dean bridge for those of you who know Edinburgh. Now, I have a secret to let you in on, people say Im a really fussy eater, I don’t think I am, I can’t eat much dairy or fish but that rules out quite a lot when your eating out!

We arrived and had drinks in the new bar The Consulting Room and had a look at the market menu, which changes everyday. At first I was filled with dread and then I couldn't wait to tuck in. We had exactly the same meal each so i can’t tell you much other than, we started with Cauliflower soup, which I'm not usually a big fan of, but was surprisingly delicious and a massive bowl, we couldn’t actually finish it knowing we had to more courses to come! Next up was duck, which ask my friends I usually screw my nose up at, but I am a convert! It was truly scrumptious especially with the red cabbage. For dessert we were treated to iced nougat, which as a chocolate lover was something a bit different for me!

We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, in gorgeous surroundings and were very well looked after. The market menu is £22.50 for a 3 course meal and I’d say its worth every penny especially if you treating someone, for example Mummy this mothers day!

So its coming up that time of year again ladies, this coming Sunday is Mothers Day.

Find me a gift asked if I would collaborate with them in a post celebrating our Mummies as they have some lovely mothers day gifts.

My Mum is smashing. I could stop the post there because thats all you really need to know, but well, that would be a bit boring.

For me, Mum is the one I phone when I'm worried about something, or she phones me before I get a chance to, she’s got a sixth sense like that, she’s the one I go to when I don’t feel well, Mike has spent many a night with me wailing “but I just want my Mummmmmmmmm”. My Mum is where I get my workaholicness from, so much so that we don’t see each other as much as we should although living 2 miles apart. She is one of the most organised people I know, which I think has rubbed off on me.. you should see us going camping, Mr Weasley hasn’t got a thing on us.

So lets just take a moment, NOT on Mothers day to appreciate our yummy Mummies, who are there for us all the 364 other days of the year!
